Holidays

The City provides 11 paid holidays and two personal holidays per year, unless otherwise specified in the applicable labor contract. 

Vacation

The City provides paid vacation leave based on length of service as listed below. See the applicable labor agreement for exceptions, and for the length of service required before leave is available for use.

Sick Leave

Upon employment a sick leave bank of 24 hours is provided, with an additional 24 hours awarded after three months of service. At completion of six full months of employment, the employee shall accrue sick leave at the rate of eight hours per month (four hours per pay period). See applicable labor agreements for exceptions and permitted reasons for use of sick leave.

Regular employees are eligible for a City-provided ORCA card at no charge.

The City of Renton provides regular employees an ORCA card at no cost, to achieve goals set forth in the State of Washington Commute Trip Reduction (CTR) Law. The CTR program reduces traffic congestion and fossil fuel consumption, and improves air quality. 

Transportation Benefits include:

• Unlimited rides on the following transit systems: Community Transit, Everett Transit, King County Metro Transit, Kitsap Transit, Pierce Transit, and Sound Transit.

• 100% monthly VanPool or VanShare subsidy.

• Home Free Guarantee - If an emergency arises on a day an employee has bused, walked, biked, carpooled, vanpooled, or ridden the train to work, a taxi ride home will be provided to them at no charge to a maximum of eight times per year.

• Carpoolers may register to receive a special parking pass for the “P” parking level. Carpoolers may also receive commuter vouchers to reward them for their carpooling habits (while supplies last).  Carpool Subsidy & Carpool Parking Permit.

• Bicycle commuters and those who walk to work are welcome to use the locker and shower facilities at many city work sites. In addition, there are bicycle racks at many city buildings. Bicyclists and those who walk to work may also receive commuter vouchers (while supplies last) to reward them for their “green” commute.

Parking

Onsite covered garage parking is provided for employees working in City Hall. Onsite open parking is provided for employees working at the shops and other city locations.

The City provides regular employees longevity incentive pay at the completion of 5, 10, 15, and 20 years of continuous service. Longevity incentive pay is established by the City Council, unless otherwise specified in the applicable labor agreement.

The City of Renton pays employees on the tenth and the twenty-fifth of each month (24 pay periods each year). Paychecks are deposited directly to the employee's checking or savings account.

City of Renton employees can access their electronic pay stubs and online information on the Employee Services area after setting up a username and password.
